Christmas Cards and Handbags

I have been sorting through my photos lately and have found some cards that I haven't shared that I will post over the next few days. This is one of my favourites - I have recently done some playing with the Stamps by Judith interactive stamps and am surprised by how easy they are to use. I just wish I had time to get to know my new camera properly so I could finally start posting some decent pics!

The other thing I want to share is the chance to win a free handbag! Go to www.handbagplanet.com and check out their gorgeous bags and go into the draw to win one. My pick is number 14!

Well somehow I manged to find time for some challenges over the weekend for World Cardmaking day. I really should have been designing some new classes, but enjoyed procrastinating on something random

The first card is for the Zest challenge - a Spring themed card. This is actually three cards in one as the spinner turns to reveal the sentiment; Bloom and Grow. I used the Coluzzle spinner card template to make the card and SEI patterned paper

The second card is for the OBP challenge and it features my favourite theme at the moment - Cupcakes! The cupcakes are from a Stampendous Set - My Little Cupcake.

Apologies for the appalling photography, but it is now late - the lighting is poor and I am now too tired to play around with them any longer.

Hope you had a good weekend

I am trying to make a concerted effort to keep this little space a little more up to date. Life just seems to be so busy these days.

I finally spent some time scrapping the other day - and came up with this using one of my favourite paper lines at the moment - Jack's World by Cosmo Cricket.

I really need to spend more time getting to know my camera as well as photoshop which is is sitting idle on my computer until I find enough time to work out how to use it. Then finally I might be able to post some decent pictures of my layouts!

Till next time

This Week at Stamp and Scrapbook Madness

This Week at Stamp and Scrapbook Madness

Brand New Stamp Brand – Unity Stamps

Just arrived in-store is a brand new fresh stamp brand called Unity Stamps. We have sourced this direct from the US and believe we are the only store in Australia to stock them. Unity Stamps are a great mix between traditional wood-mounted rubber stamps and Clear Acrylic Stamps. With Unity stamps – you get the best of both worlds. They have a great range of unique images and are very competitively priced. The stamps suit both Card-makers and Scrapbookers alike. See the attached images to get a feel for the range. We have initially imported a selection from their extensive catalogue, but if they prove as popular as we believe they will be, then we will expand our range. You can also get a chance to test the stamps out and have a play with them in the Glamorous Gatefolds class this month.uk146_gigglegrove_brn_thumb uk313_growinginunity_thumb uk199_flirtyflowers_thumb uk198_owlalwaysloveyou_thumb

Dust off the cobwebs

Well I have finally made my way back here to make another post. Since buying the shop there seems to be so little time for anything crafty which is certianly ironic!
Anyway I managed to make a card for the inkurable comp which I try to do each month
I have used my all time favourite stamp set - Feather Flourish, by Stampendous. It is the most versatile set I have ever used and I seem to go back to it time and time again. The Little bird is watercoloured and I have added some Kindyglitz to the stamped image as well as to the Pink Paislee paper.

I have actually made a few more in a similar theme - these ones I didn't submit, but they were part of my class at Stamp and Scrapbook Madness. Again all the stamps are from the Feather Flourish Set by Stampendous and the papers are all Pink Paislee and Bazill. I also got to play with my new Nestabilities for these - I am loving the petite scalloped circles - and so has everyone else - they are so hard to keep instock!!

Weddings parties anything

Well almost. This is a card that I cased from my mum. I think it is a beautful idea. I love the simplicity of using just one colour. I used a retro flower punch for the flowers and added crystal kindyglitz to give it a little sparkle. I think this would also work as a Mother's Day card if you used a colour rather than wedding white! In fact you could use it for anything - sympathy, birthday, anniversary!

I haven't created a lot lately - mainly because I have spent far too much time blog surfing and checking out other peoples creativity. Tis about time I started doing more myself!! Although I have made one fab discovery - Unity Stamps in the US. I am in love with their funky mounting system - not to mention their cool designs. Got to get me some soon! I just hope they ship to AUS.

A Cup of Tea

I have been playing aorund with tea-bag folding lately. I am really pleased with how some of my efforts have come out. The idea was to try and have a modern and fresh approach to what is often considered a fairly old fashioned craft

The first card I have done was for the inkurables blog but I am so pleased with it I am thinking of including it in my next class at Stamp and Scrapbook Madness. I have used a Stamps by Judith Dragonfly stamp in brown ink with blue watercolours. I have continued the depth and texture elements of the tea bag folds by mounting a 2nd dragonfly over the top with the wings bent upwards in 3d. The blog challenge was to create something with wings and I just loved the simplicity of this dragonfly - and I love Judith's stamps too!!!

The next card is very very simple and uses a tulipfold. I think I might use this card for Mothers' Day!!

And on a slightly more traditional note I created this one using the standard medallion fold. This is actually its 2nd incarnation as the first one I did I gave to my grandparents for their 60th wedding anniverary!!! This one uses papers that are way out of my normal comfort zone and preference so I was pretty happy with the result.

And I have also created a little series of new baby cards featuring the Feathered Flourish set from Stampendous. This is the baby girl version of the card. I have also done a baby boy and a twin version. I guess this also fits the wings criteria of the inkurables blog so now I can't decide which one to enter!!!

just a few of my favourite things

Well I thought I might share here some of my favourite things and finds. I love finding cute and quirky things that are a little different and can spend hours on the internet just seeing what is out there.

I am particularly in love with the very talented Miriam Bereson. I love her work and recently bought the alphabet freize for Master Cs room. I am still undecided on exactly how I will sturcture it but for the meantime I have put it up whilst I contemplate it.

The yearly planner is also a major godsend and helps keep this crazy family organised ( well sort of!)

I am also a big fan of Jan Pienkowski ( of Meg and Mog fame) and have an original fabric print up on another wall in Master c's room. I got it from a fab shop in Bronte Sydney ( whose name escapes me right now) I so wish I could have bought some of the other prints they had but sadly there are not enough walls in our house!!!
On a more personal level I have spent the weekend staring a collection of cards with the Stampendous Feather Flourishes set. Have complerted a Baby Boy and Baby Girl card and a twin card. Will also look to make an "expecting" card a Christening Card and a Baby Shower card as part of the set too. Will put them up when they are all finished.

keen as mustard

Alrighty! Pop the champagne corks!! I have managed 2 posts to this blog in 2 days!! Have deciuded to add a few more pics on some of my more recent creations

First here is a card I created originally for a class in my LSS. I wanted to show how you could use conventional products in original ways

The second card is a personal favourite of mine. I love the extra little surprise it has. I must confess that it wasn't an entirely original idea but something I saw in a random magazine a year or so back. I am keen to try an dmake a few more variations on this theme. I have used the Stampendous Happy Everything Stamp set which I love for being cheery and flexible to use.
And finaly a Scrapbook layout. I finally got round to doing a LO on Master L's first bath.
Never mind that he is now a boisterous 3.5 year old! Am certianly going through a minimalist phase at the moment. Which is probably a good thing as I have so much scrapbooking to catch up on!!!

better late than never

well this blogging thing is going exactly as I expected...slowly! I guess that is what you get when you are mum to three kids with a husband away all the time. It is Easter already and I haven't put anything up here since before Master C's birthday. I am now resolved to try and make this a bit more solid and sorted and will start by just putting up some pics of the party and cake. Will try and find time to upload tomorrow some pictures of some recent card and scrapbook creations. In the meantime there is plenty of chocolate to eat to help me get the creative juices flowing again

Monkey Business

Thought I would share my latest creations - invites for Master C's 2nd Birthday Party. As our resident cheeky money I figured a monkey party was most appropriate. These invites have been a big hit and I had a heap of fun making them! The party is next weekend so I will post some pics from the party including the monkey cake!!!
Have also been busy trying to design some card classes for my LSS. Am meant to incorporate some punch art but am currently berefit of ideas. The only card I have come up with has no punching and heaps of stamping!!!!
Oh well DH leaves again tonight so should get in heaps of evenings to "play" this week.

Alrighty now.... little miss Johnny come lately here has finally decided to get with the times and start a blog. How on earth I think I am going to have time for this I don't know. With three kidlets 3 and under and a DH who is away most Mondays to Fridays I think I am setting myself up for a fall....but seeing as I don't really expect anyone else to read this...what does it matter. But for the purposes of anyone who does hapen to stumble upon this I guess I had better to the introductions. My name is Figs short for Figgalilly which is a nickname I was given several years ago that seems to have stuck as my online persona. I am kept cheifly busy these days as a somewhat stressed and frazzled mother to Master L, Master C and our newest member Miss H - who isn't quite 2 months. When i am not chasing around after the kids and grumbling unmentionables about my absent DH i try to scrapbook and make cards. I have a part-time gig teaching card and scrapbook classes at my LSS as well as my more "credible" job co-ordinating debating at a local girl's high school. Well as I currently have Miss H on my lap protesting about the lack of attention I think I will leave it there. TNT Figs
